“I feed Boyd Quail because you raise quail like we raise falcons: with attention to detail.”

Propagation Manager, The Peregrine Fund

"Northwest Heritage Quail has provided The Peregrine Fund's Propagation Department with high quality quail for many years. The quail are consistently clean and healthy and have proven to be an excellent food source, not only for our breeders, but also for our hand-reared young. In addition to the amazing food for our falcons, Northwest Heritage Quail always provides amazing customer service."

“I was privileged to know Les Boyd “back in the day” and use his outstanding product (“the Boyd Quail”) to feed my falconry birds. Later, I again used Boyd Quail, almost exclusively, to propagate Peruvian aplomado falcons.  Today, I continue to use these fine quail, now raised to perfection by Landon Moore, for the raptors under my stewardship.  Landon uses the same genetics and maintains the same high-quality standards originally set by Lester.  Northwest Heritage Quail are small breed (so almost everything gets consumed), plump, sweet smelling, with the deep-red pectorals I’ve come to recognize as indicators of the best possible nutrition for my birds.  Try ‘em, you’ll like ‘em.”

Author, The Flying of Falcons

“I feed Boyd quail because they are the quail that brought the Peregrine Falcon back from the brink of extinction. These quail are from the same gene stock as the migratory quail from East Asia that migrate 1700 miles a year. The adult eight week old quail have the right amount of fat to provide all the essential amino fatty acids, vitamins and hormones needed to not only reproduce falcons in captivity but to also fuel falcons in the field. They are comparable to starlings.”

“I can heartily recommend Northwest Heritage Quail (NHQ) as a mainstay diet for use by falconers, raptor breeders, and anyone wishing to maintain captive raptors in the best possible condition.

The foundation of this quail flock was obtained from the wild in the Middle East and has been maintained in purity for over five decades. The fine condition of the many captive-bred peregrines that I raised over the years can attest to the nutritional quality of these quail.

These days, my wild-trapped tundra peregrines are kept in the peak of condition with NHQ. Not only are these quail fed the best possible diet, but their size reduces the wastage often associated with other sources of quail.”
