Rooted in tradition

Inspired by nature

Inspired by the unparalleled nutritional quality of wild game, falconer and raptor breeder Les Boyd set out to create the perfect captive food source for performance raptors. The result was the Boyd Quail-a strain of captive Corturnix quail that maintains the wild type size and nutritional density. These quail went on to contribute to the success of falconers and breeding projects for decades, including the recovery of the Peregrine falcon. 40 years later Northwest Heritage Quail continues the tradition of quality, nutrition, and husbandry that make this quail unique.

What are Boyd Quail?

What makes the Boyd Quail unique? These small, active quail are raised in large, indoor flight pens, never brooders or battery cages. They are fed a high quality, proprietary feed combined with natural dietary enrichment. Our quail are bred and raised for nutritional quality, not size, and we strive to provide the same conditions that they would need to thrive in the wild. When our quail thrive, the carnivores that depend on them do as well.

Boyd Heritage Quail

We offer eight week old quail, six week old quail, and fresh eggs. Each quail is individually inspected and packed to meet our high standards. We raise these quail with care from egg to final product, and don’t sell anything we wouldn’t feed to our own raptors. Interested in something we don’t have listed? Reach out to us.
